L&T GeoStructure Private Limited, Chennai, India set a record for constructing the longest in situ box girder concrete bridge across River Subarnarekha. This 62m in-situ PSC box girder, which is India’s first, is post-tensioned with 14 cables, each containing 22 HT strands. Weighing 1,100 MT, it is supported by heavy-duty scaffolding towers. The project includes one major (993.12m) and five minor bridges, along with embankment approaches in Baliapal and Bhograi Blocks, Balasore District, Odisha. The milestone was achieved with the first box girder cast in May 2024, as confirmed on August 26, 2024.
