Aug 30, 2022, 11:27 PM EDT A group of dogs made a run for it in Texas last weekend after a 38-year-old man allegedly broke in and freed them from an animal shelter. Police officials in Abilene announced a man has been arrested after he reportedly hopped a fence, went into the Abilene/Taylor County Animal Services building via its roof and let upward of 150 dogs free, MySA.com reported. Aug 29, 2022, 02:03 PM EDT SAN DIEGO (AP) — A member of the San Diego Zoo’s African penguin colony has been fitted with orthopedic footwear to help it deal with a degenerative foot condition. The 4-year-old penguin named Lucas has lesions on his feet due to a chronic condition known as bumblefoot, which covers a range of avian foot problems, the San Diego Wildlife Alliance said Monday in a press release. By Ben Hooper Sept. 2 (UPI) — Police in Texas captured an alligator found lurking next to an ATM and hissing at customers making withdrawals. The Lake Worth Police Department said in a Facebook post that a woman who used the ATM reported hearing a “hissing” sound while withdrawing money, and officers arrived to find a 3 1/2-foot alligator lurking next to the machine. A Texas Parks and Wildlife game warden was summoned to the scene and helped the officers subdue the alligator.
