What can be done for migraine problem?

A migraine is a common type of headache that may occur with symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, or sensitivity to light. For migraine we can go for kunjal kriya, in the treatment of cleansing the stomach .This technique is for cleanliness and efficiency of the upper digestive system as well as the respiratory system. Kunjal is performed by drinking tepid, salty water up to the point where you feel like vomiting. The water should be lukewarm, and contain about one or two teaspoons of salt for half a litre of water. At least six glasses of water should be drunk, but if you can, drink more -up to the point where you cannot take even one more sip. At this point you may vomit automatically, if not then put two fingers down your throat and massage the back of your tongue as far down as possible. By pressing it you will feel the urge to vomit, which is called the ‘gag reflex’ in medical terminology. Water will come out of your mouth in a quick series of gushes. Continue pressing until your stomach is empty. This practice should be done first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

Note: Vamana Dhouti should not be practiced by those suffering from high blood pressure, ulcers and heart trouble.

In case if the person is suffered with migraine oftenly  then he should go for jalneti, or nasal irrigation, is a cleansing process that removes excess mucus and pollutants from the nasal passage and sinuses.  It’s excellent treatment for allergies and headaches. It should be performed 2-3 times a week or everyday. Jalneti can be practiced anytime except directly following meals. For jalneti we need neti pot, natural salt, about 4 cups of warm water. Following are the steps for performing jalneti,

First of all fill the neti pot with saline water.  Tilt the head toward the left, while leaning slightly forward and breathe through the mouth.  Then, gently put the spout of the neti pot in the right nostril and tilt the pot. The water should travel through the nasal passages and sinuses and exit out the left nostril, after exhaling water, take a few strong exhalations out both nostrils, turning head gently left and right with breath this will removes some of the excess water. Repeat the same procedure on the 2nd side (head tilts right, water goes in the left nostril).

In case of migraine enema with distilled water is also a good cure to get rid of migraine, because constipation can be one of the root cause of migraine.  Enema cleans the colon and rectum thoroughly within 10 to 15 days.

What can be the cure for high blood pressure and low blood pressure?

In this case we need to start taking juices of fruits and vegetables (40:60) ratio.

Vegetables like green leafy vegetables such as lettuce, celery, broccoli,

dark green leafy vegetables—such as spinach ,mustard greens, cauliflower,

cabbage etc .and among fruits we can take oranges, lemons, limes, and grapefruits.

An enema is the insertion of a solution into the rectum and lower intestine through a enema kit. A bulb-like bag is filled with a fluid that is used to stimulate bowel movement. Other way to  use neem in de-worming is to go for neem enema .To make water for enema we need to boil neem leaves in a water on simmer ,then sieve the water ,after cooling this water can be used for enema.

What kind of remedy should we take in case of acidity?

Acidity is a common problem which people face in their day to day life; due to intake of wrong food items. When food in the stomach moves in wrong direction (toward esophagus instead of small intestine) it creates a burning sensation which is popularly called acidity. Whenever food remains logged in the stomach for a long time, if more food is taken then the pressure of accumulated food opens the valve wrong way towards esophagus. Partly digested food containing hydrochloric acid then causes irritation on the tender membrane of esophagus.

An acidic body is unhealthy. If your pH of food item is between 6 and 6.5 then you are becoming acidic, and if your pH is below 6.0, then you are highly acidic, so in order to make your body alkaline in order to be healthy or acidity free.

In acidity carrot juice is preferred daily, along with cabbage and cucumber. A person should avoid spices, milk, rice, tea, coffee, bread etc.

A person should drink water on empty stomach everyday. Such person should make a timetable for breakfast, lunch and dinner which should be followed religiously.

A person should chew his food properly; otherwise that labor has to be done  by stomach by secreting more and more acids in stomach and that can be the one of the factor that leads to acidity.

In case of bleeding or any sort of teeth problem, what remedy should be taken as a safety measures?

If a person has any sort of teeth problem, then with some safety measure and precaution the problem can be revesed.

Latest research shows that tea, coffee, wine, beer, lemons, tomatoes ,citrus fruits and  fruit juices, vinegar, soda, soya-sauce, sugar packed baked food, diet drinks,packed cereals, pizza and burgers, shakes , hard candies, ice-creams, etc can damage teeth enamel.

It is best to finish the whole sugary items in one go, then rinse your mouth thoroughly with plain water to remove the acid. Don’t brush your teeth after a soft drink, as it can damage the tooth enamel due to etching.

Don’t eat all the times. Leave at least 2-3 hours between meals or snacks. This allows the acid level in the mouth to fall and also gives saliva a chance to counteract the effect of acid and repair tooth enamel.

For teeth remedy use turmeric powder along with a pinch of salt can be applied on the teeth and gums, message gently for at least three to five minutes. This procedure twice a day will secure your teeth .

I am having acute pain, where neck end and it goes directly to the brain.i was having now and then in beginning but now facing this problem frequently? ( asked by Prianka Bhatia ) .

The reason behind this pain can be deposition of some toxins there so need to cleanse that part by natural practices. For that we can use hot and cold compress. A compress is an excellent way to apply a remedy to the skin to accelerate the healing process for both external and internal afflictions.

In hot cold compress, we need to take a hot and a cold water bowl. Take first of all take a towel and soak in hot water and keep it on the affected area for 2 minutes and then after that keep soaked  towel in cold water and keep it on the effected area for 1 minute .Repeat this procedure for 4 times . Try to perform it three times a day.

Apart from this a person should include vegetable juices in his diet like bottle gourd, pumpkin, cucumber, cauliflower juices etc. Different cereal’s sprouts can also be included in the diet. If a person is having constipation can go for water enema.

Sometimes I start sneezing continuously and it goes on like anything. What can be done in that case?

Jalnetri will be helpful for this case, try to go for daily in morning .Besides that a person needs to consume vitamin C in form gooseberry (amla) etc.

If somebody is suffered with constipation, how can it be cured by naturopathy?

Constipation is a common disturbance of the digestive tract, in this condition, the bowels do not move regularly, or is not completely emptied when they move. The most important factor in curing constipation is a natural and simple diet. This should consist of unrefined food such as whole grain cereals, bran, honey, and lentils, green and leafy vegetables, especially spinach, French beans, tomatoes, lettuce, onion, cabbage, cauliflower, sprouts, celery, turnip, pumpkin, peas, beets, asparagus, carrot; fresh fruits, especially pears, grapes, figs, papayas, mangoes, grapefruit, gooseberries, guava and oranges; dry fruits such as figs, raisins, apricots and dates ,before  consuming them soak them in water for at least 6 to 8 hours  .

The diet alone is not enough. Food should be properly chewed-each morsel for at least 15 times. Hurried meals and meals at odd times should be avoided. Sugar and sugary foods should be strictly avoided because sugar steals vitamin B from the body, without which the intestines cannot function normally. Foods which constipate are all products made of white flour, rice, bread, pulses, cakes, pastries, biscuits, cheese, fleshy foods, preserves, white sugar and hard-boiled eggs.

Regular drinking of water is beneficial not only for constipation but also for cleaning the system, diluting the blood and washing out poisons. Normally six to eight glasses of water should be taken daily as it is essential for digesting and dissolving food nutrients so that they can be absorbed and utilized by the body. Water should, however, not be taken with meals as it dilutes the gastric juices essential for proper digestion. Water should be taken either half an hour before or an hour after meals. Pears are regarded the next best fruit beneficial in the treatment of constipation. The same is true of guava which, when eaten with seeds, gives roughage to the diet and helps in the normal evacuation of the bowels.

Generally all fruits, except banana and jack fruit, are beneficial in the treatment of constipation. Certain fruits are however, more effective. Bael fruit is regarded as best of all laxatives. It cleans and tones up the intestines. Its regular use for two or three months throws out even the old accumulated faecal matter. Though generally used to check diarrhea, bael contains both laxative and constipative properties. It hardens the stools when they are loose and serves as a laxative when the bowels are constipated. It should be preferably used in its original form and before dinner. About 60 grams of the fruit will suffice for an adult.

Grapes have also proved highly beneficial in overcoming constipation. The combination of the properties of the cellulose, sugar and organic acid in grapes make them a laxative food. Their field of action is not limited to clearing the bowels only. They also tone up the stomach and intestines and relieve the most chronic constipation. One should take at least 350 grams of grapes daily to achieve the desired results. When fresh grapes are not available, raisins soaked in water can be used. Raisins should be soaked in a tumbler full of drinking water for 24 to 48 hours. This would swell them to the original size of the grapes. The raisins should be eaten early in the morning. The water in which raisins are soaked should be drunk along with the soaked raisins.

Drinking hot water with sour lime juice and half a teaspoon of salt is also an effective remedy for constipation. Drinking water which has been kept overnight in a copper vessel, the first thing in the morning will bring good results.

A cold friction bath taken daily in the morning can help cure constipation. An alternate hot and cold hit bath taken before retiring to bed is also beneficial. Abdominal exercise and manual or mechanical vibratory massage have a refreshing and stimulating effect in many cases. Toning up the muscles also helps in the treatment of constipation. Fresh air, outdoor games, walking, swimming, gardening and exercise play an important role in strengthening and activating the muscles, thereby preventing constipation.

Certain yogic asanas also help to bring relief from constipation as they strengthen the abdominal and pelvic muscles and stimulate the peristalic action of the bowels. These asanas are bhujansana, shalabhasana, yogamudra, dhanurasana, halasana, paschimotanasana. Pranayamas such as anuloma-viloma and bhastrika and jalaneti kriys are also helpful.

How can you get rid of bad breath problem?

Bad breath is a part of dental problem. It is caused by odor producing bacteria in the mouth. There are certain food products like garlic and onion that are responsible for bad breath. When we don t clean or brush our teeth properly after meals, bacteria gets accumulated on the left over food in the mouth and also between the teeth that results in bad breath. Naturopathy has offered treatment to fight bad breath. Chewing mint leaves will soon freshen up the breath and is simple home remedy for bad breath. Gargle with mint leaves dissolved in warm water. Cleaning tongue twice a day will also be helpful in removing bad breath. This remedy is one of the good home remedies for bad breath. Eating apples daily is also good for mouth purification as it removes the bacteria causing bad breath.

By eating calcium-rich vegan foods, including leafy green vegetables such as broccoli , beans, fresh juices, and a variety of fruits and vegetables, you can obtain all the calcium your body needs. But keeping your bones strong and avoiding osteoporosis depends on more than calcium intake—you also need to keep calcium in your bones. Exercise and vitamin D help keep the calcium in your bones, while animal protein, excess salt and caffeine, and tobacco can cause calcium loss.

Teenagers always face acne problem in their day to day life what natural treatment can be adopted for this?

To begin with the patient should resort to all -fruit diet for about a week. For that there should be three meals a day, consisting of fresh juicy fruits, such as apples, pears, grapes, grape-fruit, pineapple and peaches,citrus fruits, bananas.Dried, packed or tinned fruits should not be taken at any cost . Unsweetened lemon or plain water, either hot or cold, should be drunk and nothing else.

During this period, warm -water enema should be taken daily to cleanse the bowels and all other measures adopted to eradicate constipation.

After a week of all fruit diet, the patient can gradually adopt a well-balanced diet. Emphasis should be on raw foods, especially fresh fruits and vegetables, sprouted seeds like fenugreek, white tils(sesame) , raw nuts and whole grain cereals like brown rice. You can continue this diet till the condition of the skin improves. Strict attention to diet is essential for recovery. Starchy, protein and fatty foods, should be restricted. Meats, sugar, strong tea or coffee, condiments, pickles, refined and processed foods should all be avoided, as also soft drinks, candies, ice cream and products made with sugar and white flour.

The juice of raw potatoes has also proved very valuable in clearing skin blemishes. This cleansing results from high content of potassium sulphur, phosphorous and chlorine in the potato. These elements are, however, of value only when the potato is raw as in this state they are composed of live organic atoms.

A teaspoonful of coriander juice, mixed with a pinch of turmeric powder, is another effective home remedy for pimples and blackheads. The mixture should be applied to the face after thoroughly washing it, every night before retiring.

Why should we stop taking tea, coffee, smoking and alcohol ?

Tea, Coffee, smoking, alcohol are not the basic needs of the body such as food and sleep. They are acquired habits. Some of these create acidity in the stomach and make us ill and unhealthy . These can be avoided easily as these are acquired habits.

In case of arthritis, what kind of diet should be appropriated in order to live a better life?

The diet of the arthritis patient should be planned along alkaline lines and should include fruits and vegetables for protection and proteins and carbohydrates for energy. It may consist of a couple of fresh raw vegetables in the form of a salad and at least two cooked vegetables. Cabbage, carrot, celery, cucumber, lettuce, onion, radishes, tomatoes and watercress may be used for a raw salad. The cooked vegetables may include asparagus, beets, cauliflower, cabbage, carrots, celery, brinjal, mushroom, onions, peas, beans, spinach, tomatoes, squash and turnips.

In severe cases, it will be advisable to put the patient on raw vegetables juice therapy for about a week. Green juice, extracted from any green leafy vegetable, mixed with carrot, celery and red beet juice, is specific for arthritis. The alkaline action of raw juices dissolves the accumulation of deposits around the joints and in other tissues which are known as toxins in naturopath. Fresh pineapple is also valuable as the enzyme in fresh pineapple juice; bromelain reduces swelling and inflammation in osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Repeated juice fasts are recommended at intervals of every two months.

The raw potato juice therapy is considered one of the most successful biological treatments for rheumatic and arthritic conditions. It has been used in folk medicine for centuries. The old method of preparing potato juice was to cut the potato into thin slices, without peeling the skin, and place them overnight in a large glass filled with cold water. The water should be drunk in the morning on an empty stomach. Fresh juice can also be extracted from potatoes and drunk diluted with water on 50: 50 basis, first thing in the morning.

Black gingerly seeds, soaked overnight in water, have been found to be effective in preventing frequent joint pains. The water in which the seeds are soaked should also be taken along with the seeds the first thing in the morning.

Drinking water kept overnight in a copper container also serves the same purpose. This water has traces of copper which helps strengthen the muscular system.

Warm coconut oil or mustard oil, mixed with camphor, should be massaged in case of stiff and aching joints. It will increase blood supply and reduce inflammation and stiffness on account of gentle warmth produced while massaging.

Sea bathing is considered beneficial in the treatment of arthritis. The natural iodine in the sea water is said to relieve arthritis pain. As is well-known, iodine regulates the acid-alkaline balance in the blood and tissues, helps to repair and regenerate worn out tissues and nourishes the skeletal structure. It enters into the thyroid gland’s secretion. The hormone uses this iodine to nullify germs in the bloodstream and to create a self- cleansing of internal toxemia. If sea bathing is not possible, the patient should relax for 30 minutes every night in a tub of warm water in which a cupful of sea salt has been mixed. The minerals in the sea salt, especially iodine, can be absorbed through the skin pores. This will help correct an internal imbalance. The body should be kept warm at all times. Joints should not be bandaged tightly as this limits movement and interferes with the free circulation of blood. There should be plenty of indirect ventilation in the bedroom. Rest is of greatest importance to arthritis, who should not overdo their work, exercise or recreation activities.

Constipation should be avoided as it poisons the system .Light exercises such as walking, hiking and swimming are beneficial. Maintaining a normal body weight is also an important factor in preventing arthritis. Obesity places excess stress on weight-bearing joints and interferes with the smooth functioning of tendons, ligaments and muscles.

The yogic asanas helpful in curing arthritis are trikonasana, bhujangasana, shalabhasana, naukasana, vakrasana and shavasana. Arthritis patients should practice these asanas regularly. Yogic kriyas like jalneti and kapalbhati and pranayamas such as anulomaviloma, ujjai and bhrameri are also beneficial.

The patient should be given a lukewarm enema for a few days to cleanse the bowels. Hot foot baths, stream baths and a massage once a week are beneficial in the treatment of arthritis. All general cold water treatments, such as cold baths and cold sprays, should be avoided.

What safety measures can be taken in term of life style and food intake,  in order to get relief from back pain?

The diet of those suffering from backache should consist of a salad of raw vegetables such as tomato, carrot, cabbage, cucumber, radish, lettuce and at least two steamed or lightly cooked vegetables such as cauliflower, cabbage, carrot, spinach and plenty of fruits, all except bananas. The patients should have four meals daily. They may take fruits and milk during breakfast, steamed vegetables and whole wheat chapatis during lunch, fresh fruits or fruit juice in the evening and a bowl of raw salad and sprouts during dinner.

Controlling one’s weight is another important step towards relieving backache as excess weight greatly increases the stress on soft back tissues.

The patients should avoid fatty, spicy, and fried foods, curd, sweetmeats, sugar, condiments as well as tea and coffee. Those who smoke and take tobacco in any form should give them up completely.

Proteins and vitamin C are necessary for the development of a healthy bone metrix. Vitamin D, calcium, phosphorous and the essential trace minerals are essential for healthy bones.

Frozen foods have few nutrients and should be eliminated from the diet. Vitamin C has proved helpful in relieving low-back pain and averting spinal disc operations.The back can be strengthened through proper nutrition, exercise and relaxation and in the process general health will also improve.

People now days are suffering from dental problems also like pyorrhea, due to lack of dental hygiene, how can be revert this by bringing some amendments in our diet ?

Pyorrhoea or periodontal disease to give it a proper medical term is a disease of the teeth socket. It is one of the most widely prevalent diseases these days. It affects the membrane surrounding the teeth-root, with loosening of the teeth, pus formation and shrinkage of the gum. This disease is the primary cause for tooth loss among adults. Pyorrhea affects persons of all ages.

The patient should begin the treatment with a short juice fast for three to five days. The juice of a fresh orange diluted with water on 50:50 basis, should be taken at two-hourly intervals from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. during this period. If the orange juice does not agree, carrot juice may be taken. The bowels should be cleansed daily during this period with a warm water enema. If constipation is habitual, all steps should be taken for its eradication.

After the juice fast, the patient should spend a further three to five days on an exclusive fresh fruit diet. In this regimen, he should have three meals a day, at five-hourly intervals of fresh juicy fruits such as apples, pears, grapes, grape-fruit, oranges, pineapple and melon. If losing much weight on the all-fruit diet, those already under weight may add a glass of milk to each fruit meal. Thereafter the patient may gradually embark upon a balanced diet, with emphasis on fresh fruits, green salads, whole meal bread, properly cooked vegetables, cheese, nuts, and milk.

White bread, white sugar and all refined and tinned foods must be completely given up. Sauces, alcohol, coffee and strong tea as well as meat and other flesh foods should also be avoided. The patient should also keep away from starchy and sticky foods.

The teeth and gum, like other parts of the body require exercise. This can be achieved by eating hard and fibrous foods. Wheat is especially valuable in the prevention and treatment of pyorrhea. It takes time to eat wheat chapattis and as it is generally taken with other foods, it compels the chewing of other foods also. This not only provides the needed exercise for the teeth and gum but also a great aid to digestion.

Chewing unripe guava is an excellent tonic for teeth and gums. It stops the bleeding from gums due its styptic effect and richness in vitamin C. Chewing its tender leaves also helps in curing bleeding from gums and keeps the teeth healthy. A decoction of root-bark can also be beneficial used as mouth- wash for swollen gums.

Lemon and lime are also useful in pyorrhea due to their high vitamin C-content. They strengthen the gums and teeth and are very effective for preventing and curing acute inflammations of the gum margins.

Raw spinach juice is another valuable food remedy for the prevention and treatment of pyorrhea because of its beneficial effect on the teeth and gums. This effect is generally enhanced if the spinach juice is taken in combination with carrot juice. A permanent aid for this affliction has been found in the use of natural raw foods and in drinking an ample quantity of carrot and spinach juice.

The daily dry friction and hip bath and the breathing and other exercises should form a part of the morning routine.

As regards local treatment, the teeth should be cleansed every morning and night with a little lemon juice squeezed on the toothbrush, after it has been dipped into warm water. Afterwards mouth should be well rinsed with warm water containing lemon juice. The forefinger of the right hand should be rubbed gently over the gums for a minute or two after each brushing.

Applying turmeric with a pinch of salt also is helpful in treating this sort of problem up to some extent.

Wheat grass is also very good for using as a mouthwash.

What safety measures can be taken in term of life style and food intake , in order to get relief from back pain?

The diet of those suffering from backache should consist of a salad of raw vegetables such as tomato, carrot, cabbage, cucumber, radish, lettuce and at least two steamed or lightly cooked vegetables such as cauliflower, cabbage, carrot, spinach and plenty of fruits, all except bananas. The patients should have four meals daily. They may take fruits and milk during breakfast, steamed vegetables and whole wheat chapatis during lunch, fresh fruits or fruit juice in the evening and a bowl of raw salad and sprouts during dinner.

Controlling one’s weight is another important step towards relieving backache as excess weight greatly increases the stress on soft back tissues.

The patients should avoid fatty, spicy, and fried foods, curd, sweetmeats, sugar, condiments as well as tea and coffee. Those who smoke and take tobacco in any form should give them up completely.

Proteins and vitamin C are necessary for the development of a healthy bone metrix. Vitamin D, calcium, phosphorous and the essential trace minerals are essential for healthy bones.

Frozen foods have few nutrients and should be eliminated from the diet. Vitamin C has proved helpful in relieving low-back pain and averting spinal disc operations.The back can be strengthened through proper nutrition, exercise and relaxation and in the process general health will also improve.

Now a day dengue is spreading like anything, what safety measures can be taken to avoid it and if a person is suffered with dengue then what should be included in diet plan to increase the recovery speed?

To avoid dengue a person should consume neem and tulsi leaves on daily basis; with water. And if person is suffered with dengue then he should have raw vegetables, along with fruits and vegetables juices. He should consume coconut water also.

Apart from this, mud pack on stomach should be done daily.

Naturopathy definitely provides a solution to this problem. For this you need to start consuming raw vegetables and fruits strictly in daily diet at least for three months , sprouts of different cereals like black grams, moong daal etc., start consuming  soaked almonds(overnight ) and raisins ( 2 hours only ).Apart from this start consuming wheat grass 25 to 30 ml on empty stomach, as it will detoxify your body .Hot and cold compress will also provide relief  up to a greater extent ,for compression first of all take hot water and cold water bowl , keep towel from hot bowl for 2 minutes on the effected part then again place the towel from cold water for 1 minute on the effected part repeat this procedure for at least four times. Definately you can add honey to all raw items as well as hunza tea.

To test honey, there are two simple test which can be done for its purity.

1) Take half of the spoon of honey and drop it in glass of water, if it gets dissolved then it can be due to sugar or jaggery added in it.

2) Add one or two drops of honey on a cotton cloth if it gets soaked by the cloth then it can be impure but if it remains intact after some time also then it is pure.

Replace your white sugar. Carbs are not your enemy! Carbohydrates are our natural foods which break down to simple sugar molecules in the body which feeds our cells. You must be surprised to know that  fruits and vegetables have 90% carbohydrates ?

Complex Carbs are not suitable for us . The reason you crave them is because your body needs them. However, there are good carbs and bad carbs. Good carbs are whole and bad are refined. What you need is to stay away from refined carbs like white rice, maida and switch instead to whole wheat, whole millets and unpolished brown or red rice. Also choose whole pulses over the washed pulses.

The reason is that WHOLE grains and legumes contain fibre and many other nutrients that are stripped in the refining process.
